In her dissertation Ronja Kuokkanen is studying resident participation and practices fostering eco-socially sustainable well-being in remote communities. Her research interests include eco-social approaches to the well-being of communities and individuals, local social policy and rural community development and discursive participation. She currently works at the University of Tampere, Department of Pori on a research and development project titled “Cultural Planning, Cooperative Development and Deliberative Participation”. Research project applies theories of deliberative democracy and discursive participation in studying participatory decision-making in local welfare promotion.
