Motion Capture 2013

HAMLET´S NORWEGIAN DOLLHOUSE
Motion capture -workshop series 2013 – 2014

The VIMMA project produces in 2013 and 2014 a series of 3D-workshops titled Hamlet´s Norwegian Dollhouse. They present a unique chance to explore 3D virtual environments interacting with live performers. The Hamlet´s Norwegian Dollhouse workshops gather students from Stockholm Academy of Dramatic Arts (SWE), Aalto University (FIN), Royal Institute of Technology-KTH (SWE) and University of Tampere (FIN) to negotiate and to challenge each other’s views in order to build up the most convenient 3D environment for a theatre demonstration. The developed virtual sets will be based on and inspired by an existing theatre venue (the main stage of Nationaltheatret in Olso) and two different ‘source sets’, Edward Gordon Craig’s design for Hamlet (1911) and elements of early designs for Henrik Ibsen’s A Doll’s House (prem. 1879).

DESIGN WORKSHOP
May 20.-24.2013

Media Centre LUME
Helsinki, Finland

The first workshop in May 2013 can be seen as a production meeting of director, dramaturge and the (virtual) set designers before the actors join in. Students of directing and dramaturgy (Stockholm Academy of Dramatic Arts) work together with the students of set design (Aalto University) in order to build up their own virtual re-staging of Hamlet and The Doll´s House. The workshop is held under the supervision of lecturers Matthew Delbridge (Queensland University of Technology) and Tanja Bastamow (Aalto University).
